Thousands of contracts, incomprehensible clauses, language and legal barriers show that the world of insurance often resembles an impenetrable jungle. But artificial intelligence promises a clear path through it. But what does this mean for companies, lawyers and the future?

Insurance companies and businesses work with countless documents, in a thicket of paragraphs, languages and hidden risks. Like in a dark jungle, dangers loom, such as overlooked clauses or legal pitfalls. No wonder many people get lost in it, says Paul the Insurer in today’s podcast.

The tech shaman and the eucalyptus plantation

At the Risk -!n 2025 conference, a technology expert – known tongue-in-cheek as a shaman – presented a solution that transforms the jungle: his tools use mathematical models, data analysis and artificial intelligence to create an orderly landscape. Contracts from different countries and jurisdictions are automatically read, translated, structured and made analyzable in a data pool.

Fishing in the data lake – with AI

Another application specifically fishes out contracts, policies and important documents from this “data cloud”. It analyzes the structure, content and clauses and detects errors, gaps or risks before they become expensive. What used to take days or weeks now takes minutes.

When AI puts lawyers out of a job

One customer reported satisfaction with the solution and is also concerned: “The technology solves problems, but creates new ones. This is because lawyers are losing tasks that were previously considered irreplaceable. But instead of job losses, transformation is taking place: in-house lawyers are beginning to use AI themselves and redefine their role by moving away from being document hunters to strategic advisors.

The jungle remains – but we find the way

Artificial intelligence is radically changing the world of insurance. It is cleaning up, automating and opening up new perspectives. Even where uncertainty initially prevails. Those who embark on this journey will not only find their way out of the jungle, but also new opportunities to shape it.
