Mirjam Bamberger becomes the new CEO of the CSS Group

The Board of Directors of the CSS Group has elected Mirjam Bamberger (51) as the new CEO. She succeeds Philomena Colatrella, who is stepping down after nine successful years. Bamberger brings with her many years of experience in the insurance industry and will take over as CEO at the beginning of February 2026.

Mirjam Bamberger was most recently CEO at AXA Luxembourg, where she was responsible for the multi-line insurance business and pension solutions. Prior to that, she was Head of Customers & Strategy at AXA Switzerland and is currently a member of the Executive Board of the European Markets & Health Group. Her focus is on customer relationships, digital innovation and sustainable growth – particularly at the interface between insurance and health.

Innovative strength for the next development phase

Bernard Rüeger, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the CSS Group, emphasizes: “Her experience and leadership will ensure the further development of our company.” Bamberger himself sees CSS as a strong brand with clear values: “Our heart beats for the interests of the insured. Together, we want to play an active role in shaping the Swiss healthcare system.”

The appointment is still subject to approval by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) and the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA).
